The Case for Self Study is a 7-part zine series that proposes internal investigation as a prerequisite for transformation and liberation. This freedom campaign, by artist and activist educator Jamie “J LeShaé” Jenkins, is an inspiring challenge status quo society. Each zine offers an eclectic compilation of art, essays, creative stories, and critical questions channeled from J’s afro-ancestral lens on culture, power, and truth.
Each zine study aligns to one of seven energy centers:
Divine Design (Root)
Daughter of Woman (Sacral)
Finding Freedom (Solar Plex)
Love Letters to Life (Heart)
Lexicon for Liberation (Throat)
House of Mirrors (Third Eye)
Crown (Crown)
This series is the fruit of nearly 20 years of applied research on identity development, activist practice, and social change. An ancestral offering and a collective call to action, The Case for Self Study is designed specifically for the crazies, radicals, and free-spirits at the fringes of society who are fearlessly forging freedom for us all.
